Why has my burner slowed down?
Prices have dropped to the point where this isn'ta huge expense. I have a Pioneer DVD burner, but if I were to replace it, I would definitely consider a DVD-RAM capable burner. I am interested in hearing from others who use a DVD recorder and also use their computer to enhance what you record with better menus etc.

While you're right that you'll need additional software, there's a lot of nice free software out there for authoring (assuming you have basic video editing software) or for copying disks (no editing software needed.) See www.doom9.org for the latter. If just getting the DVD burner for data, it is nice to get 4.7

It's really funny but Windows XP is supposed to have some driver reset your computer clock to the atomic clock once a week so that these types of errors are too be a avoided. It's a really great Microsoft idea but too bad it never seems synchronises on my system. Always get the error report in my event viewer.
