At default compression, it backed up a 30 gig drive (not exactly full, of course) to 3 DVD-RWs). But in order to restore, I have to load all three volumes someplace to restore the files. Dar seems to be able to do the job (ie, backup) well enough, although it is a bit clunky. But it does it better than mindi/mondo

Are you using DVD-RW disks? I did have a problem with daromizer the first time I used it because I was using regular DVD-R. The script is definitely written for use with DVD-RW disks. Regular DVD-R. Maybe I get some RW. That Phillips drive I got is the latest and greatest so should be OK.

But they are all somewhat hip, so they all have DVD players (go figure). Wouldn't it be great if there was some way that you could make that video into a disc file (.bin & .cue) Ok, now after some time, depending on the size of the source file, the script will prompt you to insert blank media into your burner.

I now have DVD burner (Plextor 708a) and cannot seem to use this function. Doesn't this function work to a DVD-RW or am I doing something incorrectly? I had never thought of burning the DVD multisession in order to reduce temporary storage. I was using the file size limit because mkisofs refuses to add any file larger than 2 gigs to an ISO so I needed the option in order to get it to fill a whole dvd at all. Still takes a very long time and verifying will also

And how I know that I have CD burner on my computer or not? If you have a CD burner on your computer, you'll know by clicking on the "My Computer" icon on your desktop and then look where it says "Devices with Removable Storage". If you see CD-RW, then you can burn CD's. And if you have DVD-RW, you can burn DVD's.

Papa bikin...@my.fun microsoft public windowsxp newusers I don't have a DVD burner, but I do have a burner for CD-RWs and CD-Rs. One factor that can slow down the burn speed is a low burn capability built into your blank disks. So check you blank disk burn capability. Is it 4X, 10X, etc.

Best Method to capute VCR Video\Audio to PC (and then DVD)?
Of course, the more data you have to backup, the harder it seems to actually do the backup. Now that a single DVD+RW media costs about maybe 25 cents US and holds twice as much data as 4mm DAT, I think that DVD+RW is a better solution than tape is. But obviously you just can't tar to the dvd like you could do to
